HELP, God, how is it ever thus,
That Thou so long refrainest,
O Lord, and art so hid from us,
Nor our just cause maintainest?
Thou art the true and only God;
Why wilt Thou not avenge our blood
On them upon earth dwelling?

2 How long shall they that shed our blood
Flee wrath and just disfavor?
“Wait but a little while,” saith God,
“Till every co-believer
Who is appointed yet to die
Shall fill your number; then shall I
Begin My vengeance surely!”

Hilf Gott, wie geht das immer zu,
du heilger Gott und Herre!
daß du so lange schweigest nu,
willt du nit richten mehre,
du bist ja ein wahrhafter Gott,
warum willt du denn unsern Tod
und unser blut nicht rächen?

2 Wie lang solln ungestrafet sein,
die unser Blut vergoßen,
Gott sprach, Seid still ein Zeitlang klein,
bis eure Glaubensgnossen,
die noch ertötet werden solln,
auch also zu euch kommen volln,
denn soll die Rach ergehen.
