O LAMB of God, the Father’s heart,
Dear Christ, Thou only worthy art,
And to the work appointed,
The sacred book in hand to take
And so its seal to loose and break:
For this Thou wast anointed!

2 Yea, Thou, dear Lord, for us wast slain,
Thereby to purchase and obtain
With Thy own bloodshed precious
For us from every kindred, tongue,
And heathen nation, wand’ring long,
Great good and blessing gracious!

3 In love for us Thou shedd’st Thy blood,
And so hast made us to our God
True kings and princes ever,
And chrismed priests by holy birth,
And we shall reign upon the earth,
The praise be Thine, O Savior!

O Lamm Gottes Herr Jesu Christ,
nur du allein recht würdig bist,
von Gott darzu bestellet,
das heilig Buch zu nehmen nun,
und seine Siegel aufzuthun,
wie dir solchs selbst gefellet.

2 Denn du für uns erwürget bist,
hast uns erkauft lieber Herr Christ,
mit deinem theuren Blute,
aus allerlei Völker Geschlecht,
und aus den Heiden ungerecht
uns viel gethan zu Gute.

3 Du hast uns auch so werth geacht,
daß du uns für Gott hast gemacht,
zu Könign und zu Herren,
zu Priestern auch geselbet fein,
daß wir auf Erden König sein,
dir Jesus Christ zu Ehren.
