Here is my translation of the canticle paraphrase, “Danket dem Herren” (C. Spangenberg, 1582), canticle 28 in the series. For now I skip 27, David’s thanksgiving from 1 Chron. 30, as well as 25, David’s death-song, to both which I shall return. Here is “The singers of Judah’s song, which they sang before the Lord Jehoshaphat when they marched out against the Moabites and Ammonites, 2 Chron. 20.” The assigned melody is “Danket dem Herren, der uns all thut nähren,” that is, “Jam satis terrae nivis atque dirae.”
THANKS to God bring ye,
To His glory sing ye,
For He is kindly,
Ever lasts His mercy,
Full of good favor,
And forsaketh never
Those in Him trusting.

GERMAN
Danket dem Herren,
singet ihm zu Ehren,
denn er ist freundlich,
seine Güt währt ewig,
barmherzig ist er,
und verläßt nimmermehr,
die auf ihn trauen.
