The Song of the Great Multitude in Heaven. Rev. 19.

Mel.: Nun freut euch, lieben Christen gmein
 

SALVATION, honor, glory_and might
To God our Lord belongeth!
He faithful is, true and upright,
His justice never wrongeth,
As Scripture doth to us lay bare;
For He in judgment did not spare
The Babylonian harlot.

2 For He hath judged her finally,
For all her vile pollution
Of whoredom and iniquity,
Which called for retribution;
God hath avenged the blood her hand
Shed of His servants’ faithful band,
In greatest zeal and fervor.

3 Therefore praise God, His servants all,
Uphold His honor solely—
Both young and old and great and small,
Who fear the Lord most holy!
For God omnipotent doth reign,
Wherefore let us with joyful strain
All honor give unto Him.

GERMAN

Heil, Preis und Ehre, Macht und Kraft
gehört Gott unserm Herren.
Er ist getreu und ganz wahrhaft,
wie uns die Schrift thut lehren,
gerecht sind alle sein Gericht,
drum hat er auch verschonet nicht
der Babylonisch Huren.

2 Denn er sie selbst verurtheilt hat,
weil sie verderbt die Erden,
mit Hurerei und Missethat,
das mußt gestrafet werden,
Gott hat von ihrer Hand mit Recht
das Blut seiner geliebten Knecht
in großem Ernst gerochen.

3 So lobt nun Gott all seine Knecht,
und preist sein Ehr alleine:
und alle, die ihn fürchten recht,
alt und jung, groß und kleine,
denn Gott hats Reich genommen ein,
drum laßt uns freun und fröhlich sein,
und ihm all Ehre geben.
