Gott hat gericht die Sache mein

Here is my translation of the canticle paraphrase, “Gott hat gericht die Sache mein” (C. Spangenberg, 1582), the author’s 6th Old Testament canticle, based on Genesis 30, with title “Rachel’s two expressions of thanks.” The same melody as the previous is used, i.e., “Erhalt uns Herr bei deinem Wort.”

MY God hath judged me, and my voice
Hath heard, and caused me to rejoice;
He wrestled with me. Where I ailed,
I have through Him now far prevailed.
